It is recommended that you see your GP in advance to have prescriptions written and filled so that you can avoid this situation. The specialist will send a report to your referring doctor who will prescribe ongoing medications for you unless dosage has been changed at consultation. Any prescriptions which you receive from your GP are reissued by your GP.
